Chasing Lightning Since 2014: The WARDENCLYFFE® Story

WARDENCLYFFE About Us

What began as a fascination with Nikola Tesla became a company devoted to turning high-voltage experiments into real Tesla coil products.

The Spark (2009)

Nikola Tesla inspiration

It started with Google’s 2009 tribute to Nikola Tesla. I came across the Doodle and spent the rest of the day reading about Tesla, his experiments, and the ideas he left unfinished.

What stayed with me was not only the spectacle of lightning, but the engineering behind it—the idea that electricity could be made visible, audible, and controllable.

That curiosity never really went away. I wanted to understand Tesla coils well enough not only to build one, but to keep making them better.

The Obsession Becomes STARK (2014)

Early STARK work

At university, I studied Geophysics, which deepened my interest in electromagnetism and the electrical behavior of the Earth.

In 2014, I founded Wuhan Stark Technology Development Co., Ltd., and we began building under the STARK / 史塔克 name.

The early years were practical and hands-on: winding coils, building driver boards, testing resonant circuits, breaking things, rebuilding them, and learning which ideas could survive outside a one-off experiment.

Over time, the question changed from “Can we make it work?” to “Can we make it work repeatedly, package it properly, and support it after sale?” That shift—from experiment to product—became the direction of the company.

From Bench Builds to a Product Line (2014–2024)

STARK Tesla coil product development

Over the next decade, our work grew from small experimental builds into a broader Tesla coil product line.

By 2018, we were already selling compact solid-state musical Tesla coils under the STARK brand. From there, the products kept evolving in power electronics, feedback and protection, music control, thermal design, mechanical structure, wireless control, and ease of operation.

The product line grew in both directions: smaller desktop systems that were easier to own and operate, and larger DRSSTC systems built for stronger arcs, exhibitions, and professional demonstrations.

Our work also moved beyond individual hobby buyers, with Tesla coil systems supplied for university teaching, exhibitions, and larger demonstration projects.

Across those changes, one principle stayed the same: turn high-voltage experiments into products that can be operated, maintained, and supported in the real world.

A New Name for the Same Direction: WARDENCLYFFE®

Nikola Tesla Wardenclyffe Tower

In 2025, as our international business expanded, we unified our Tesla coil product family under the WARDENCLYFFE® brand.

Why that name?

Wardenclyffe was the site of Nikola Tesla’s ambitious tower project on Long Island, created to pursue long-distance wireless communication and wireless power. The project was never completed as Tesla envisioned it, but Wardenclyffe became one of the clearest symbols of the scale of his ambition.

We chose WARDENCLYFFE® because Tesla’s work is not just a visual theme for us—it is the reason the company exists. High-frequency power, resonance, wireless energy, electrical discharge, and the history behind them are the subjects that have kept us building for more than a decade.

That is also why our slogan is simple: All About Nikola Tesla.

What We Build Today

Today, WARDENCLYFFE® covers a wide Tesla coil range—from compact desktop SSTCs to musical DRSSTCs and larger professional systems.

Some customers are choosing their first desktop Tesla coil. Others need a system for a classroom, laboratory, exhibition, or stage. We do not believe the answer is always the biggest coil; the right system depends on the space, input power, sound, safety clearance, and what the customer is trying to demonstrate.

Behind the products, our work includes R&D, primary manufacturing, testing, documentation, replacement parts, technical support, and installation or training for larger systems when required.

WARDENCLYFFE® is owned and developed by Wuhan Stark Technology Development Co., Ltd.—the same company behind our earlier STARK-era Tesla coil work.

Why Choose WARDENCLYFFE®?

  1. Tesla coils are our core business.
We have been developing Tesla-coil-related products since 2014. This is not a temporary product category added to a general electronics store.
  2. Technical support comes from people who know the hardware.
Questions about operation, troubleshooting, parts, or larger systems can be handled with direct access to the product team and product documentation.
  3. Our experience spans desk to project scale.
We build compact consumer models as well as larger systems for university teaching, exhibitions, and professional demonstrations.
